Autumn is my signature color...
Together, Apart release, Sweater weather, historical romances for the win!
Happy October, everyone! Oh my goodness, I don’t know about you, but autumn is my signature color. I was born on October 1 and am the Libra-est of Libras. Changing leaves, bonfires, knitwear, wood stoves, baking with apples, gray skies and serial killer podcasts. I am most alive in the fall.
WHICH!! is why!! I am so excited to be releasing a story this month! I’m thrilled to announce the release of Together, Apart on October 20th from Underlined/Delacorte. Last spring was pretty miserable for everyone, so when I was approached to write something hopeful and swoony for teens, I couldn’t resist.
Together, Apart is a YA collection of sweet meet cutes and love connections that take place during lock down and features some of my very FAVORITE voices in contemporary YA romance. Seriously, I am GEEKED about being included. Kirkus reviewed the anthology and my story, Masked was given a special shout out!
“Among the most memorable is Erin Hahn’s “Masked,” in which a teen making masks for nursing home employees out of her prom dress discovers that the boy she’s been chatting with online is her favorite contestant on an American Idol–esque reality show.”
A little bit about Masked: GRAY ARCHER is a prolific costume designer and senior in high school who has dreamed of sewing her own prom dress since the first time she saw Rosemary Clooney’s gown in White Christmas. That was, until the pandemic happened and ruined everything. Determined to make the most of things, Gray decides to cut up her dress and make face masks for others. Enter Jude… the mysterious teenage boy she meets online who works for his uncle’s pandemic delivery service. Jude is definitely a Danny Kaye… funny, sweet, kind and encouraging. The only problem is, she’s never seen him without a mask. Not only that, but he seems to be hiding something…

SPEAKING OF stories to get you through the hell-scape that is 2020, have you read my latest YA romance, released this past summer from Wednesday Books? More Than Maybe is a divebar romance for music lovers and has been lifting the spirits of readers since July 21st. I’m so proud of my lyric-nerd couple, Luke and Vada. While their world of echoey concert venues and arcades feels like it could be an alternate universe, their adorkable love story is pure joy in a world… that isn’t. :) You can find your copy here.
I asked Luke and Vada (et al) to hook up my readers with a short Autumn Is Awesome playlist.. and here is what they came up with for you to listen to while you rake leaves… enjoy! (P.S. These are not spoilers… just for fun)
Luke: Ride to California by Paper Tongues
Vada: You Don’t Own Me by SayGrace feat. G-Eazy
Phil: Cute Without the E by Taking Back Sunday
Charlie: Englishman in New York by Sting
Meg: Heaven Knows by The Pretty Reckless
AND WHILE WE’RE ON THE SUBJECT OF Meg Hennessey, darling sprite and voice of reason… did you know her story, Never Saw You Coming will be coming out next fall? That’s right! Lots of THINGS are happening behind the scenes as we prepare to launch Meg’s book into the world, but for now, you can add NSYC to Goodreads for the most up-to-date information!
Finally, another edition of WHAT ERIN IS INTO RIGHT NOW…
Reading: Lord. I asked for historical romance recc’s a few months back on Twitter and DID YOU EVER DELIVER. First, I binged all of Sarah MacLean, then some Joanna Shupe, UpTown Girls and finally, I’ve been making my way through every single Lisa Kleypas I can get my grubby hands on. I started with The Hathaways, then I bounced around to The Wallflowers, The Gamblers and most recently I’ve started The Ravenels. Holy spicy swoons, Batman. *fans self* HIGHLY recommend all three authors, but I think I’ve enjoyed Lisa’s style of intricate found family drama PLUS romance to be my favorite. What a treat. This is the Fall of Historical Romance, friends.
Listening to: I’m drafting a few projects right now… One, being my fourth YA that will take place in the rodeo circuit… so I’m sharpening up my country playlists and drowning myself in the lyrical genius Luke Combs. Not to mention, I haven’t stopped listening to Taylor Swift’s Folklore on repeat. Taylor will save us all.
Watching: I’m waiting on the coming final season of Schitt’s Creek and the second season of Unsolved Mysteries… but in the meantime, I ADORED Enola Holmes on Netflix. Perfectly smart and charming.
Eating: my feelings. Just kidding. Also Krusteaz gluten free brownies.
Happy Fall, friends!
