Well hello, Summertime!
I totally meant to do one of these all spring and then… it’s summer. So ACTUALLY, I meant to do a summer newsletter all along. :) Obviously. Life, you know? Just gets all up in my face.
The best part of doing a summer newsletter, though, is that NEVER SAW YOU COMING is only 2.5 months away! That’s right. Labor Day, and then bam! RELEASE DAY! I’m so unbelievably excited to share Meg and Micah’s story with the world. Some of you lucky ducks have already had a peek at an early copy and if that’s you, THANK YOU for your enthusiasm and messages. I read every single one (and almost always cry). I appreciate you so much.
If you haven’t read an early copy, or even if you have and you would like to preorder a signed, personalized copy of NSYC, I have news! For the first time ever, I’m doing a preorder campaign! I asked my extra talented littlest sister to create something NSYC related for me and she chose to do Meg’s fairy wings. Without spoiling it, these are VERY important to the story! So for every preorder that comes through my local indie bookseller, Nicolas Books, you’ll also be getting a super fun custom temporary tattoo of Meg’s wings. I can’t wait to see all the pics of your tats!
I’ll be releasing the preorder information soon, but for you, my exclusive newsletter enthusiasts, I wanted to give you the first shot at the swag. If you’ve already preordered from another source, that’s okay! Just send me a copy of your receipt and I can make sure you get your wings tat, however, I’ll only be doing signed books through my indie for now. Swag quantity will be limited so make sure you let me know ASAP!
The preorder link is here!
Speaking of swag pics… After the cover reveal, I got SO many positive messages about Meg’s two piece bathing suit. Authors get lots of questions about cover-involvement and to be honest, I don’t have tons to do with my gorgeous covers (that’s all Wednesday Books!) but I *did* weigh in on Meg’s two piece. I was very particular about what she chose and just how important of a step this was for her and her journey. In honor of this, I’ve decided it would be the Most Fun to create a hashtag on Instagram for everyone to show off their copies of NSYC alongside their own two pieces! Note: You absolutely DO NOT have to wear them in the photos if you’re not comfortable. Meg would love it either way! I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEM!
In other BIG NEWS, I’m writing adult romance! Don’t worry, I’m not abandoning my YA roots, but I have some joyful and sexy adult stories to share with you all. Starting in 2022, my first (of three!!) rom com(s), BUILT TO LAST will release with Griffin Books. It’s about two former childhood costars with a tangled romantic history who reunite to produce a home renovation TV show. It’s just hitting inboxes of early-early readers as we speak, but the first blurb is in and it’s a good one!
"I loved this delightful romance about makeovers of old homes, old personas, and relationships that never had a chance to launch. A sweet, charming reminder of what you can build with a strong foundation." - Jodi Picoult, #1 NYT bestselling author of THE BOOK OF TWO WAYS
I know. I about died. JODI PICOULT IS A LEGEND. Anyway, if “former pop star turned HGTV-adjacent reality stars-who are horny” is your jam… here’s the Goodreads link!
A couple of housekeeping items and also current faves…
(You’d Be Mine and) More Than Maybe playlists… I know. They’ve been taken down from Spotify! Apparently my account was inactive too long or something and they locked me out and deleted my playlists. There used to be reader-created playlists, but I think they might’ve been removed too. I’m so sorry! But!! The good news is I basically hand you the playlist in the book. Page by page, every artist is listed. Thanks, Luke and Vada!
Movie rights! None. Nada. Nope. Sorry! Fingers crossed for one day, but for now we’ll just have to use our imaginations! :) Thank you for asking, though, it’s nice to know you see the potential!
Resource links for NSYC: I have them on my website (erinphahn.com) as well as on my Macmillan author page. I created discussion questions and also wrote a nice long author note about my personal connections to the story. Please check them out and use them for your book clubs and youth groups, but be warned, they contain spoilers!
Duke. If you know him, you love him. If you don’t, you will. I promise. Stay tuned for bonus content from your new favorite in up-coming newsletters!
What I’m reading: I just finished two EXCELLENT books: For the Wolf, an adult fantasy a la Beauty and the Beast/ Little Red Riding Hood by Hannah Whitten and How Moon Fuentes Fell in Love with the Universe, a sex-positive YA romance by the extra talented Raquel Vasques Gilliland.
Okay, I think I’ve bombarded you with enough content for now! Happy Summer, readers! I’ll update soon with NSYC launch and event dates, but until then, be safe and know you are loved!
Love, Erin
